St. Mary’s Info and Crom Invitation

St. Mary’s Info:

The bus for St. Mary’s is planning to leave the Freshman Center on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Once they have arrived at St. Mary’s, boats will be unloaded and rigged. Dinner will follow that and is hosted for the athletes and coaches by St. Mary’s. The team will be staying at a church across the street with chaperones present. Kids will need to bring sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries and everything they need to race with. They can either bring these things to school with them and find a place to store them (the car of someone who drives) or parents can meet them at 2:30 with all that they need. Athletes will be bussed back after the regatta to the freshman center and will need to be picked up there. If your athlete is not riding the bus back, you must let one of the coaches know.

Parents, the address for the regatta site can be found on regatta central, along with directions. There is a $5 fee to park and they ask that pets be left at home. Heat sheets can be found as well once the event is closer.

Here is the Sign Up Genius for the weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped last weekend. We need a lot of hands to make feeding our athletes successful and we appreciate everyone pitching in to help.
If anyone is going to be in the area on Friday night, we are asking for sign ups to help set up the tent that evening.

Please see the attached invite to The 2017 Crew Prom being held on Sunday, May 21st. Don’t forget the mask making event is on Sunday from 12-4 at Shots on West River. They are generously allowing us to use their large rooms free of charge. They will have a snack food menu and soft drink menu for those that may want to order food. If you have not paid your $20 yet, please be sure to bring it on Sunday. It can be given to Tabatha as well. If you have a hair dryer, they are needed to help dry the masks so please bring it.

Pictures from GRHS Regatta

Great job yesterday! Below is a forwarded e-mail from Mr. Sidor, Hailey Powers grandfather, with a link to a dropbox that contains pictures of all of the athletes. Because we have satellite internet, it just takes me too long to upload this quantity to the share site! Also, here is a link from Aaron Sundman who also got some great pictures of all of the kids and coaches. Thanks to both of them!

Boat Line Ups for Tomrrow and Apparel Information

The apparel is in! Bridget will have it ready for distribution today at pick up time at the boathouse (after athletes return to the boathouse after moving boats) and tomorrow at the regatta.

Our Boat house order has been delayed and is scheduled to ship today. We have seven athletes that have ordered Jackets but are without this weekend. If your family has an extra boathouse jacket that you’re willing to share for the weekend, please let Bridget know.

Included below are the boat line-ups for tomorrow. Keep in mind these can change. The heat sheet (schedule of events) can be found on Regatta Central. This is subject to change (and often does) as well!

******For those of you going to Canada, we will need to know if you will be participating in the fundraising. If you choose to participate, both are mandatory. E-mails have been sent out regarding the Ada Meat Sale. If you missed it, please find it on our website under recent e-mails. Also, please be watching for a Canadafundraising e-mail in the next few days as an answer will be needed as to whether you are paying the flat rate of $400 or participating in both of the fundraisers. *********

Sign Up Genius for Saturday and a Couple Reminders

Please see the sign up genius link below. Help is needed for our first official regatta on Saturday.

We could use one more person to help with food prep tomorrow morning from 8 a.m.-12 a.m. If you are able to help, please get in touch with Jeanne Crall at 616-826-1730. You can either text or call.

Reminder: Canada answers need to be in by Friday. Those that do not answer will be marked as a "no".

Also, please be sure to turn in your waivers to coaches and those that are making masks need to turn in money to either Tabatha or her parents, who are at the boathouse on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Cost was $20 to cover the cost of the leather.

Thanks and good luck to all on Saturday!

Important Information Regarding CSSRA in Canada.

Come this June 1st-4th we have the opportunity to attend the CSSRA in St. Catherines Ontario, Canada. This is a highly regarded regatta and is a wonderful experience for the rowers. It brings in teams from all over the New England and Midwest states and Canada providing some challenging competition for our kids. Not to mention the venue is amazing and specifically design for rowing.

This regatta is in addition to our normal season. Spring dues DID NOT include the cost of this regatta and space is limited.

As a parent what do you need to know?

· Hotel rooms have been reserved for the rowers/coxswains

· A charter bus has been acquired

· Your athlete will need to supply an official birth certificate (raised seal) and picture ID (school ID, drivers license) to enter Canada and return to the US. They will also need a permission slip (we will provide) which you must sign in front of a notary and have notarized.

· The COST….

o $335, with 2 mandatory fundraisers (listed below) to bring this number down

o Or an op-out fundraising fee of $65 for a total cost of $400

To make this happen a quick decision must be made. Parents please reply no later then noon on Friday April 28th with a Yes or No for your athlete. Please keep in mind a yes confirms your athlete is available to travel and you agree to either $335 and 2 mandatory fundraisers, with the intentions of lowering the $335 OR you agree to pay a flat fee of $400 if you choose to opt out of the fundraisers. Understanding a yes reply does NOT guarantee a spot; if there is overwhelming response it will be at the coaches discretion to determine who goes.

Now Fundraisers….

We are very excited about our fundraisers and have been in touch with groups that have been very successful with them in the past. The first one we will be doing is Ada Valley Meats. More details on order due date and pick up date and times will be coming. We hope to have the order form out to you within a few days. Post it on Facebook, bring it to work;it is strongly encourage that each rower sell a minimum of 10 boxes each. We are also working on arranging a car wash in mid/late May. We will be in need of a power washer if someone can loan us one. Please be on the look out for more information as the details of the fundraisers are finalized.

Thank you and remember to have your reply in by Friday (to rockfordrowing). If you do not respond, your lack of response will be recorded as NO.

Help Needed for Tomorrow/ Mask Making Sign Up

Thanks to all who have signed up so far to help tomorrow. All of the food requests are covered! We do not having any volunteers yet to help with breakfast or lunch. Please consider signing up to help with at least one regatta. If your athlete happens to be competing during your shift, you will be covered while you watch the race. Here is the link to the sign up genius. Thank you in advance for your help!

Mask making RSVP is due on Monday so the Cass’s can order the leather. Money can be turned in at a later date. Here is the link to that for your convenience.
